IsoPod

My first product design.

IsoPod is a personal noise-cancelling device paired with a mobile app — designed to help people focus and relax in chaotic environments. It was my submission for the Fundamentals of Interaction Design course, and also my first step into physical product design.

The app lets users choose from ambient sounds like forest rain, café chatter, or studio silence. They can even control the noise-cancellation level, tailoring the mood to work or sleep.

The initial prototype focused on minimal UI and smooth onboarding. I tested it through paper prototypes and heuristic evaluations, refining areas like system feedback, button visibility, and guided walkthroughs.

The first app prototype is clean and distraction-free. It lets users pair their IsoPod, adjust modes, and track their focus stats. I also introduced a little guide character to help first-time users — making the experience both friendly and functional.

🧠 What I Learned

Designing IsoPod taught me that even the simplest ideas need deep thinking. From crafting smooth user flows to fixing tiny usability gaps, every decision shapes the overall experience. It was also my first time blending physical product thinking with app design — and I loved exploring how sound, focus, and emotion could come together through thoughtful interaction.
